MATERIALS - TEXT/RESUME

What file format should I use?

For general textual content for your website setup can be sent as a *.doc (MS Word) or *.txt (Notepad) file.  Short sections of content can also be sent in the body of an email.  For your resume, you should also include a PDF for the downloadable/printable version to ensure it maintains your specific formatting.  If you are not able to create your own PDF, you can send us a Word document and we will create a PDF for you.  Unfortunately, we can not guarantee that the formatting will be 100% acurrate via this method, but it typically turns out fine (please let us know otherwise).

What is a PDF?

PDF stands for "Portable Document Format," and it is a filetype designed for viewing and printing documents between various types of computers without losing important formatting features such as fonts and layout.  PDF files are viewable and printable on virtually any computer, making them the ideal filetype for sharing and sending documents such as Resumes and Headshots.  PDF files will look like the original documents and preserve source file information — text, drawings, full-color graphics/photos — regardless of the computer or program used to create them.

How do I make a PDF?

There are a number of programs that will allow you to view or create PDFs, the most common being Adobe Acrobat.  A quick google search for "PDF Creator" will provide downloads to a number of free programs that will convert your files into PDFs.  There are also websites that will convert your uploaded files to PDF for free, such as www.pdfonline.com.
